Firefox to browse the web, and to build the website pages with the CMS editor.
I recommend using Firefox for all your web browsing. It's a fantastic web browser that beats Internet Explorer hands down, and actually shows more webpages on the internet properly, than Internet Explorer 8.  Microsoft, even in IE 8, the most current version, doesn't fully comply with web standards, and instead tries to institute their own standards based on the fact that they are bigger then the rest.  This is why some website don't display properly, and will show up just fine in Firefox, Opera, or any other standards compliant web browser.  So, back to this website...

There are several add-ons I use with Firefox as well for web development.

First off, the site is built on linux hosting from Great Big Hosting (a BE Enterprises company by the way, so we are self hosting).

Domain name is registered through Great Big Hosting as well.

This website is built on a terrific Content Management System called Joomla (version 1.5.latest).

The template was tricked out by Brian Elliott, based on a template by Joomla Shine.

There are several Joomla extensions running on this site to handle graphics, and editing as well as special functions like the Link Cloud.

The editor used for this site was added to this Joomla installation, and it's called JCEditor.

JoomlaPack is installed to create backup files in case the site should ever get hacked (hey, it happens!), or destroyed on the server (this happens too).

On the desktop side, I used The GIMP for graphics, as well as an old version of Paint Shop Pro (by Jasc).

Notepad++ text editor for writing the text entered on the site. This text editor replaced "notepad" for me.  One window with as many tabs as you have files open.  No more mess dealing with text files.

Filezilla FTP program for uploading files to the hosting space from my desktop

The computer utilized for most of the work is a BE Enterprises custom machine with a 64bit AMD dual core Phenom CPU, 2GB's RAM, and a 300GB SATA HDD running Windows XP Pro SP3.
